1. Who we are
This website, dealthenight.com, is operated by Deal The Night (“Deal The Night”, “we”, “us”), trading as Deal The Night and registered in Australia. We are the entity responsible for personal information collected through this site - the data controller, in the language used in other jurisdictions.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
2. What personal information we collect
We collect only what we need to respond to an enquiry and run an event. That is:
- Information you give us through the enquiry form, by email or by telephone - your name, phone number, event type, event date, and optionally guest numbers and any notes you add.
- Information you give us during planning - venue details, billing contacts, access arrangements and similar operational information, where you proceed past the enquiry stage.
- Technical information created automatically when you visit the site - IP address, browser type, device type, referring page and the pages you view. Our hosting provider records this in server logs for security and reliability.
- Cookie and measurement information - only to the extent described in section 7 and only within the consent you have given.
We do not ask for, and ask that you do not send us, sensitive information as defined by the Privacy Act (for example health, racial or ethnic origin, political or religious beliefs, or criminal record information). We do not collect payment card details through this website.
3. Enquiry form data
The enquiry form collects: name, phone number, event type and event date as required fields, plus optional approximate guest numbers and free-text notes. The form also records three confirmations you must tick before sending:
- that the event is for adult participants only;
- that you agree to this Privacy Policy;
- that you understand the service does not include real-money gambling, betting or cash prizes.
Submissions are processed by a script on our own server and delivered to our enquiries inbox, with a copy written to a protected file on the server so that an enquiry is not lost if mail delivery fails. The form includes a hidden anti-spam field; it is not used for tracking or profiling.
4. Why we process your information
- to respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote;
- to plan, staff and deliver an event you book;
- to communicate with you and your venue about an event;
- to keep records required for tax, insurance and accounting purposes;
- to keep the website secure and functioning;
- with your consent, to measure how the website performs and how effective our advertising is.
We do not sell personal information. We do not add enquiry contacts to a marketing list without asking, and we do not use your enquiry details to build an advertising audience.
5. Legal basis
Under Australian privacy law we collect personal information where it is reasonably necessary for our functions and activities as an event business, and we use it for the purpose you would reasonably expect - responding to your enquiry and running your event. Where we rely on consent, which is the case for all analytics and advertising cookies, that consent is explicit, optional and withdrawable at any time. Some records are kept because other laws, such as tax and corporations legislation, require it.
6. How long we keep it
| Information | Retention |
|---|---|
| Enquiries that do not become bookings | 12 months from last contact, then deleted |
| Event and client records for completed bookings | 7 years, to meet Australian tax and accounting requirements |
| Email correspondence | Up to 7 years where it relates to a booking; otherwise 12 months |
| Server access logs | Typically 30 to 90 days, per our hosting provider's configuration |
| Cookie consent record | Stored in your own browser until you clear it or change your choice |
7. Cookies, similar technologies and consent
This website uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, measure performance and - with your consent - for advertising measurement and personalisation. Full detail is in our Cookie Policy.
Only strictly necessary cookies are used before you make a choice. Analytics and marketing cookies are never set until you grant the relevant consent, and nothing is pre-ticked in the preferences panel. Closing the banner, scrolling or navigating the site is not treated as consent.
We implement Google Consent Mode v2. Before any choice is made, all four consent
signals default to denied:
ad_storage: deniedanalytics_storage: deniedad_user_data: deniedad_personalization: denied
When you choose, those signals are updated to match your selection - analytics consent
controls analytics_storage, and marketing consent controls
ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization.
You can change or withdraw consent at any time using
,
which is also permanently available in our footer.
8. Analytics
Where analytics consent is granted, we may use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read, how people move through the site and which devices they use. Analytics reporting is aggregated; we do not use it to identify individuals, and no analytics cookie is set before consent. If you decline analytics, the site works exactly the same.
9. Google Ads and conversion tracking
We advertise our event services in Australia. Where marketing consent is granted, we may use Google Ads conversion tracking and remarketing tags to measure which campaigns lead to enquiries and, where relevant, to show our advertising to people who have visited this site. Conversion measurement is triggered on the thank-you page after an enquiry is submitted.
Where Google services are used, some data may be shared with Google and processed by Google as described in its own documentation, including for ads personalisation when you have consented to it. Further information:
- How Google uses data from sites or apps that use Google services
- Google Business Data Responsibility and privacy information
If you decline marketing consent, no advertising or conversion cookies are set and no ads personalisation data is shared from this site.
10. Third-party processors
We use a small number of service providers who may handle personal information on our behalf:
| Provider type | Purpose | Consent required |
|---|---|---|
| Web hosting and email provider | Serving this website, storing enquiry records, delivering our email | No - necessary to operate |
| Google Analytics | Website performance measurement | Yes - analytics consent |
| Google Ads / Google Tag Manager | Advertising measurement and personalisation | Yes - marketing consent |
| Accounting and invoicing software | Invoices and statutory financial records for bookings | No - required by law |
Each provider is permitted to use the information only to deliver the service to us.
11. Overseas disclosure
Some of these providers, including Google, operate infrastructure outside Australia, so information may be stored or processed overseas, including in the United States and the European Union. Where we disclose personal information overseas we take reasonable steps, as required by APP 8, to ensure the recipient handles it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
12. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Enquiry records are stored in a directory that is not publicly accessible, access to our inbox and systems is limited to staff who need it, and we review what we hold periodically and delete what we no longer need. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, as APP 11 requires.
13. Your rights
Under the Privacy Act and the APPs you may:
- Access the personal information we hold about you (APP 12);
- Correct information that is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete (APP 13);
- Ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep;
- Withdraw cookie consent at any time, with no effect on the rest of the site;
- Ask how we handle your information, or how a specific provider is involved;
- Complain to us, and then to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, if you believe we have mishandled your information.
Write to [email protected]. We will normally respond within 30 days and will not charge you to make a request.
14. Deletion requests
Email [email protected] with the subject line “Deletion request” and the phone number or email you used to contact us, so we can locate the record. We will delete what we are not required to keep and tell you plainly what has to be retained - for example invoices covered by the seven-year tax retention period - and for how long.
15. Complaints
Please raise a privacy concern with us first at [email protected]; we will acknowledge it and respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner: https://www.oaic.gov.au/.
16. Age restriction
Our services are for adults aged 18+ only. This website is not directed at children, we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we do not target or depict minors in any marketing. If you believe a minor has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. The “last updated” date above always reflects the current version. Material changes to how we use personal information will be announced on this page, and where consent is required we will ask again rather than assume it.
18. Contact
