Team building

A table is an honest place to watch a team work

Facilitated sessions for workplaces, built around decisions made quickly, in public, with incomplete information - then unpacked properly afterwards.

  • 12 to 120 participants
  • 2 to 3 hours per session
  • Written debrief included
  • 18+ participants

Why it works

Not a trust fall, not a trivia night

A themed table gives a group a shared problem with visible stakes - reputational ones, not financial. Who speaks first. Who defers. Who explains the position to the person who missed it. Who quietly keeps count.

Because no money is involved, nobody has a reason to protect themselves, so people behave the way they actually behave. That is the whole point of the exercise, and it is what makes the debrief worth sitting through.

  • Decision-making under time pressure
  • Communicating a position clearly
  • Reading a group
  • Managing incomplete information
  • Shared accountability
  • Handling a loss well
Session structure

Three hours with a purpose

Run on site at your office, at a venue, or as an afternoon block inside a longer conference programme.

  1. Frame

Fifteen minutes: what we are observing, what the symbolic chips represent, and the ground rule that nothing here is wagered.

  2. Rounds

Rotating groups across tables, with short rounds and deliberate constraints - limited information, limited time, one spokesperson per team.

  3. Debrief

Facilitated discussion per table: what the group noticed about its own decision-making, with specific moments from the rounds.

  4. Summary

A written summary of themes for the organiser - patterns, not individual assessments. We never rank or report on named participants.

Formats

Three ways we run it

A

Single session

One group of up to 40 people, two to three hours, two or three tables with rotation. The most common booking.

B

Split sessions

Two or three consecutive blocks for larger teams, so shifts or departments can attend without closing the office.

C

Programme plus function

A facilitated afternoon that rolls into a social casino-themed evening once the debrief is finished - same tables, different purpose.

A note for HR teams

Participation is voluntary and the session contains no element of wagering: guests play with symbolic chips that have no monetary value, and there are no cash prizes or betting of any kind. Anyone who would rather observe is welcome to, and we brief facilitators to make that easy. Sessions are for participants aged 18+. See our Responsible Entertainment notice for the full position, including guidance for anyone affected by gambling-related harm.
